Objective

By introducing the books on Korean culture and arts, LTI Korea seeks to share Korean culture and arts with the world, and help better appreciation.

Description

Books in the field of culture and arts are selected by a committee, and applications are reviewed once a year.

Selected books may be translated into any language unless otherwise noted in the list

Qualified Korean translators and native speakers of the target language

Grant Period

One year (It is possible to extend the grant period for a maximum of one more year if necessary.)

1. Application form

2. Translator(s) curriculum vitae (if there are co-translators)

3. Introduction of the original work to be used later to contact potential publishers
- The introduction must be written in the target language and include an introduction of the author(s), the work,
and a synopsis of the work.

4. Detailed time schedule for the translation project

5. Three copies of the sample translation and the original text
- Length : 20~30 A4 pages

Application Procedure

Please send all application materials by mail to:

All the applications are available for download from LTI Korea’s website.

The applications will not be returned, and incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

The applications by translators who have not submitted the finalized translation of a previous LTI Korea translation grant project will not be accepted.

※ Results will be posted mid-October 2009

Selection Criteria

- The translator’s level of understanding of the original work and the quality of the translator’s sample work

- Potential appeal to readers of the target language
